How To Tell If Someone Is Faking Tics? Ive been doing these for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was young I can remember always feeling the need to hum and grunt etc, then at one point I always felt the need to spin around constantly. It would be a load off your mind and they would probably tell you how often they hear the same thing from other patients! im 12 ive been looking into it but its really bad. Some people think that i'm faking it, but i'm not. I dont know how or why I did, but I know that if they do happen its extremely rare and only when I get very nervous. There is such thing called Functional Tics. although, if you have shivers its not necessarily tourettes or a tic disorder, it can also be anxiety. ive always peeled the skin off my lips and inside of my mouth and last year i started peeling it off with my nails and ive been seriously messing up my lips i dont know if its anything serious enough to go to a doctor for, and im scared to ask my family for help because they dont believe i have any mental problems, so i really would love some help before i am forced to go to them! I dont know how to even start the conversation or shohld I just go to a doctor first and talk to them? RuthieP More Posts hi, my name is james and i think i may have a tic disorder. Doctors once believed that certain medications, including some used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, induced tics in children that were prone to them. We made the same mistake of seeing a specialist, but later found out what it actually was. The annoying this is that I cant help it but I dont want them to think that Im faking it. When I try to sleep I start making mouse noises. Just to be clear Im 14 and would really like you help. We can both do it together though. In this post, I will outline and summarize two of the main types of tics that are warning signs for TS+ in a younger child anywhere from the ages of 2 years old to a middle school-aged child. I feel like Im being a pest and overreacting, so Im sorry if theres something Im missing thats painfully obvious. For example, I do this thing where, normally when Im eating, Ill suddenly open my mouth and let out this screech that gets higher in pitch as it goes on. The worry of faking Tourette can be a manifestation of OCD According to the International OCD Foundation, up to 60% of Tourette sufferers have symptoms of OCD. its been the same for me too. Lets not forget how impressive it would be to fake tics for so long. My brother has TS but it is not as severe as the stereotypical cases. Sometimes Ill also scrunch up my nose because I feel like theres something on it (I wear glasses but do it even when theyre off) and twitch my nose like a rabbit at random, not noticing it until Ive done it several times. Although at 7 ( I am now 77) I showed classic signs of tourretts it went undiagnosed as it was not widely known about those days. But I am not the right person to diagnose you just because this test says you're not faking it. So our daughter is 7 and weve had done big changes over last 18 months in her life with 2 new siblings and moving into different home. So theres these 2 girls I know and they have these weird sort of twitches sometimes, like sometimes their eyes will just start jittering.. or theyll make these weird noises kind of like humming but they only do it for a few seconds Also theyll look up and blink their eyes a lot And also theyll sometimes shift or shake their head for a minute then just randomly stop.
